Scooters now require insurance coverage equal to cars in Wisconsin

Wisconsin became the 49th state to require auto insurance for scooter drivers this week.

College students who enjoy a cheap means of transportation and zip around on scooters will now be required to cover their "vehicle" with the same level of auto insurance coverage as any other vehicle. This amounts to a minimum liability of $50,000 per person, $100,000 per crash and $15,000 for property damage.

New Hampshire is now the only state which allows people to ride scooters (mopeds, Vespas, etc) without carrying auto insurance.
