Empty beer kegs and frozen pizza were the targets in two thefts in Madison earlier this month.
The Madison Police Department said 10 empty beer kegs were taken Jan. 11 from a gated storage area outside the Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, 420 Gammon Place on the far west side.
Surveillance video showed two men pulled up in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, tossed the kegs into the back of the pickup and drove off.
On Jan. 15, someone broke into an Orv's Pizza delivery truck, with 12 cases of frozen pizza valued at $600 stolen from the truck.
"The pizzas included four cases of Gino's deep dish pizza, six cases of Gino's thin crust pizza and two cases of Lombardi's sausage pizza," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.

It's time once again to raise a glass and celebrate the best local beers of the past year. It was an especially great year for new brews; there were so many introduced. It makes me think that our local breweries have reached critical mass in number and are coming of age in quality. Here are a few of my top "beery" good memories.
Most surprising and memorable find of the year
Chocolate Imperial Porter from Tyranena Brewing Company
A full-bodied porter made with cocoa nibs. Tyranena owner and brewer Rob Larson starts with an Imperial Oatmeal Porter called The Devil Made Me Do It and adds the nibs to create a beer with lots of chocolate flavor and body.Read the rest of the article at: http://www.thedailypage.com/daily/article.php?article=27731&sid=fb34d03f01e42b0f1a010c1fe7a94fa1

A thump on a young woman's head wasn't caused by a snowball but
by a can of Milwaukee's Best beer, tossed or dropped from above
during the snowstorm early Wednesday morning.
Madison police said the 21-year-old Madison woman needed stitches to close the head wound following the incident at about 2:40 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of West Johnson Street.
The woman and her boyfriend were crossing the street when she was suddenly struck in the head.
"Her boyfriend thought someone had tossed a snowball but quickly discovered it was a full can of Milwaukee's Best beer that had collided with her head," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain.
The can of beer split open when it hit the ground.
"It could not be determined where the can of beer came from," DeSpain said. "It appeared to have come from above and may have been dropped or thrown from a nearby building."
