Vikings helmet mailbox stolen in Madison, new purple box swiped too

Posted on January 18, 2012

It's bad enough for a Minnesota Vikings fan in Madison to sit through a terrible season. Throw in getting your custom-made Vikings mailbox swiped.

Then have a replacement plain old metal mailbox that you painted purple intercepted as well, and a bad season just got worse.

Madison police said the football-flavored thievery happened in the 900 block of Troy Drive on the city's north side.

The lady of the house, a 56-year-old Vikings fan, told police the family is not shy about pledging allegiance to Viking purple and gold and not Packer green and gold.

"They displayed their allegiance to the Minnesota Vikings in the heart of Packer Nation," said police spokesman Joel DeSpain in a news release. "Their mailbox had been in the shape of a Vikings' helmet, talked about in the past tense because someone swiped the prized $600 plastic receptacle at the end of December."

Enter the standard, non-Viking mailbox.

"The owner was undeterred, buying a $25 plain mailbox to replace the helmet, painting the new box purple," DeSpain said.

The Viking fan was sacked when the new box was intercepted on Jan. 7.

"It already was not a great year since the Vikings went 3-13," DeSpain said. "The team mailed it in and now a Madison fan has no Viking mailbox to get mail in."

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop, 30, Arrested By Madison Police [photo]

Posted on January 7, 2012

We've seen plenty of weird crime mugshots and heard plenty of bizarre stories. But when it comes to criminal names, this one is ... a mouthful.

Beezow Doo-Doo Zopittybop-Bop-Bop, 30, was arrested Thursday afternoon on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and a violation of probation in Madison, Wisc.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was born Jeffrey Drew Wilschke, according to court records unearthed by the Capital Times. He legally changed his name to Beezow Doo-Doo Zoopittybop-Bop-Bop in October.

According to Zopittybop-Bop-Bop's apparent Facebook account, when he's not in trouble with the law he enjoys activities including "eating," "standing," walking," "thinking," and "diamond." He's also single... so there's that, ladies.

Zopittybop-Bop-Bop was apprehended by authorities after neighbors complained of "excessive drinking and drug use" around a local park, the Madison police report says.

Police say that when they took Zopittybop-Bop-Bop into custody, they found him in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a knife.

On his way to the prison, Zopittybop-Bop-Bop allegedly told cops that he would eventually "get even with them."

Oak Creek's "Drunk Santa" calls police after being shortchanged by 'escort’

Posted on December 15, 2011

A 74-year-old Milwaukee man called police to report a theft of $50 after two women failed to give him $50 back in change for "escort services" he received at an Oak Creek hotel Monday.

According to the police report:

The man told police he had contracted for one of the women, known as "LaDonna," to give him a $50 back massage from 1:13 a.m. to 1:43 a.m. in his room at Days Inn, 1201 W. College Ave.

The man told the women he only had a $100 bill, and the women agreed to provide him with change in the morning, but he never received it.

Police questioned LaDonna, a 22-year-old Illinois man dressed as a woman, who told police he was an escort who had his own website advertising LaDonna's services.

They also questioned the other escort, a 25-year-old Illinois woman, who admitted doing business in Wisconsin on a regular basis.

The man was warned about soliciting escort services and the officer advised him the incident was a civil matter.

Days Inn management has placed the man on its “do not rent” lists.

The same man was involved in an incident the day before. Oak Creek police say he was intoxicated, wearing a Santa hat and spitting at people in a church parking lot.

Thieves caught after pocket-dialing 911 in Madison

Posted on December 15, 2011

Madison police didn't have to work too hard to track down this pair of unlucky thieves.

Authorities said two Madison men, ages 29 and 28, stole DVDs and computer games from a Target store Tuesday afternoon. As they drove away they discussed their plans to sell the stolen goods.

But they didn't realize that one of them had accidentally pocket-dialed 911, allowing a dispatcher to listen in on nearly an hour of conversation. The two spoke in detail about what they had stolen and where they might sell it, and they also described their getaway vehicle.

Madison police spokesman Joel DeSpain said the pair decided to sell their goods at a video store. When they pulled into the store's parking lot, officers surrounded their vehicle with guns drawn.

Manitowoc man is arrested for planking [photos]

Posted on December 9, 2011

19-year-old Alexander Hart of Manitowoc, Wisconsin was definitely into the planking craze.

Back in May, he and his 20-year-old brother, Ryan, took photos of themselves planking on top of an ATM, at Walmart and Lowe's, on top of a police car, and on top of a police memorial. Then they posted the photos to Facebook.

The cops got word of the photos and probably would've let them go...if the guys hadn't planked on the police car and the memorial.

They found that TOO disrespectful, so they tracked down Alexander and Ryan, and arrested them for disorderly conduct.

And this week, Alexander was found guilty. He was fined $303. Ryan's trial will be held next week.

After he pretended to sign a recall for Gov. Scott Walker, the man allegedly jabbed at the petition form with a pen and then ripped the paper. He was confronted by recall petition volunteers. As he walked away, the man gave his name as “George Washington.”

One witness snapped photos of the George Washington suspect’s car and license plate as he drove off.

Edgewood student commits felony by ripping up Recall petition & brags about it on twitter [video]

Posted on November 29, 2011

MADISON (WKOW) -- Edgewood College officials notified the campus community of the destruction of a recall petition against Governor Walker, but a campus official said the police were not notified.

But on the twitter account of the student believed responsible for the potentially criminal act, a confessional message was sent to the governor's account:  "Today I ripped up a petition form to recall you."

In an email to students and staff, Edgewood College Dean of Students Maggie Balistreri-Clarke wrote campus security was notified someone had destroyed a recall petition with signatures.   The email notes such action is a felony crime.

Regardless of your political beliefs, prohibiting someone's rights to participate in the political process is wrong. Wisconsin is better than this.
