This is the display from the Michigan Pyrotechnics Arts Guild at the 2010 Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention which was recently held in Appleton. (Hey, how come we weren't notified?!)

Wisconsin tourists will be PO-ed: backlog slows fireworks from entering U.S.

Many of our out-of-state friends are sure to be up in arms when they find that fireworks stands have less inventory than they expected! Because of a customs backlog, fewer fireworks have entered the U.S. (and thereby Wisconsin) this year.

When fireworks are imported from outside the U.S., they're assigned a special number used to track them. A government backlog has held up a large number of new products from getting through customs. Because of that, fewer new fireworks are hitting the stores.
