Posing with the bronze badger in Madison [video]

Getting this close to an angry badger usually isn't advised, but when it's a 600-pound bronze statue, people can't wait to get their picture taken.

Director of Athletics at the University of Wisconsin Barry Alvarez and UW Head Football coach Bret Bielema have sent letter to UW Student Season Ticket Holders asking them to end vulgar cheers and chants.
Here is a portion of the letter:
We are asking you to end the vulgar chants at our home football games. We'd like to share some of the correspondence we receive throughout the football season from not only visiting fans, but your fellow Badger fans as well:
"This past Saturday, my son and I attended our first Badger game at Camp Randall. All in all, it was great fun; however, one thing surprised and disturbed me. During the course of the game, the student body was led in a very obscene cheering consisting of echoing "Eat s---" and "F--- you." I was pretty appalled considering that not all the spectators were 18 years or older. It was not the sort of thing children should be hearing."
"I recorded the game at home. You can hear the students chat "You f***ed up" when another player commits a penalty. I can't imagine that's the image we want for UW."
"The vulgar profanity the students chant back and forth to one another for amusement inside the stadium during the game is simply pathetic. I expected much more from the Wisconsin program."
These are just a small sample. There are many more. We think you are more creative than this. We believe you want to represent yourselves, your university and the football program in a classier manner than this. We believe you can have a great time at Camp Randall without chanting four-letter words.

Defensive tackle Chase Rome of the University of Nebraska football team officially had one solo tackle in Saturday night's 48-17 loss to Wisconsin, but a tackle he made later in the night cost him.
Rome, 19, was cited by Dane County deputies for criminal damage to property after he allegedly ripped off the front section of a towel dispenser in a bathroom at the Dane County Regional Airport.
Dane County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Elise Schaffer listed the damage to the dispenser at $600 and said Rome was fined $326.50.
Airport spokesman Brent McHenry said there were plenty of media inquiries about what he termed a minor incident that occurred when the Cornhuskers went to the airport to return to Lincoln after their nationally televised loss at Camp Randall Stadium. The game marked Nebraska's Big Ten Conference debut.
"A paper towel dispenser was damaged. It has since been repaired. It's nothing significant at all," McHenry said.
Rome is a redshirt freshman from Missouri. He stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 295 pounds, according to the Nebraska Cornhuskers website, www.huskers.com.

Check out the mad sousaphone skills by one of my friends from high school in Oregon, WI, Nat McIntosh performing with the Wisconsin Marching Band... what this guy can do with a tuba is CRAZY INSANE!
I remember watching him learn to do cycle breathing and holding a note for 3 minutes. What's up?!

The University of Wisconsin athletic department contributed about $50,000 to the School of Nursing building project with funds generated from ticket sales at the spring football game.
But that was only part of the story.
School of Nursing dean Katharyn May believes a $1 million donation received about three weeks prior to the spring game probably would not have happened without the affiliation with the football program.
"I am absolutely convinced that gift would not have happened without the enthusiasm and momentum, if you will, leading up to the spring game," May said Monday.
